“Ultimately, the music will simply be a catalyst to helping me (and many others) invest in the development of the continent. Africa has given too much to the development of the world to remain ‘developing’.”

— Shopé

Nigerian-Canadian independent musician, Shopé, embodies the new African aesthetic; globally-minded, deeply rooted in tradition, yet steeped in the west. Having emigrated from Lagos to Toronto, the singer/rapper’s  personal and musical narratives weave tales of poverty, determination and love, through a masterful blend of the fast-rising Afrobeats sound with already established Hip-Hop/R&B, aptly called Afrofusion.

Shopé's musical ambidexterity continues to garner him accolades and win global fans, to the tune of 8M+ streams and almost 100,000 social media followers. 2021 saw Shopé's single "RISING" land a synchronization deal as the official soundtrack to Canadian Olympic gold medalist, Andre De Grasse, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Further still, the 2019 CBC Searchlight winner and alumnus of the prestigious Allan Slaight JUNO Masterclass, has performance credits that span international tours and premier festivals like CBC Music Festival, SXSW, CMW, and the JUNOS 2020 (later cancelled due to COVID19), showcasing alongside acts like; Tory Lanez, Jazz Cartier, Tyler Shaw, and Lecrae, just to name a few. His robust touring schedule has also taken him across Canada, USA, Europe and Africa.

Shopé's passion and adept expertise at connecting cultures is setting him apart as a one-to-watch international artist, bridging Western & African cultures, and in so doing, empowering those in the African diaspora and beyond.
